I just heard Jason Miller in an interview on The Higherside Chats speaking of his experience with the O.T.O. fondly, and praising them for their recent interest outside of Crowley in Paschal Beverly Randolph and Ida Craddock.
He then went on to say that though he recommends the O.T.O, he finds they have gotten away from their original purpose, which was to spread the teachings of sex magick; that they have become stuck in Crowley's philosophy and the Book of the Law.
This nailed what I personally felt myself. I come out of a fundamentalist Christian background, and am wearied by Book of the Law thumping, and what I coin "Thelemese" - as in "Christianese". I label such as "staging religious".
These are those who would have you believe that they have found all the answers, and if you differ, you can go to hell. They become repeaters who weary everyone but those like themselves. Not all Thelemites are as such, just as not all Christians are as such, and so on and so forth. The religiously minded seem to be the majority however.
